Some ‘experts’ pick and choose Jesus’ words as though they, at a distance of 2,000 years, know better than eyewitness writers what Jesus really said.

They argue that editors made him sound better than he really was.

Or that Jesus had some good lines but that others made up his claims to be God. But central to his teaching about peace was the idea that he had come not just to teach but also to take away human sin and guilt. He said this would kill him, but he’d come back to life and would eventually take believers to heaven.

If his claim to be God is true, why are a few miracles so hard to believe…?

When you know you should do what he said (e.g. ‘Love your enemies’), it’s sometimes easier to think up excuses why you can’t believe.
