ONCE A NEW GUINEA TRIBAL CHIEF was invited to a UN meeting in New York. When he came home, he tried to tell his villagers about it.

‘I got into a large canoe that flies like a bird’, he said, ‘There was water wider than 10,000 rivers, but we crossed in one day without paddling. The villagers said, ‘Impossible - you’re mad.’ And they beat him up.
